99% Of Doctors Are NOT EDUCATED In Nutrition! | Christopher Brandlin, The Carnivore Lawyer

Dr. Anthony Chaffee interviews Christopher Brandlin, known as the Carnivore Lawyer, who shares his dramatic healing journey from severe ulcerative colitis and pyoderma gangrenosum through carnivore nutrition. Brandlin details how conventional medical treatment, including multiple colonoscopies and surgical removal of six inches of his intestine, left him worse off with life-threatening infections. His turning point came in 2018 when he adopted a strict all-meat diet after connecting with Michaela Peterson and working with Dr. Sophia Clemens at the Paleo Medicina clinic in Hungary.

The conversation explores how American medical education provides only 20 hours of nutrition training throughout medical school, leading to a pharmaceutical-focused approach rather than addressing root causes. Brandlin discusses his combination of carnivore eating with hyperbaric oxygen therapy to heal severe skin ulcers, and his current work as an attorney advocating against plant-based food mandates in California schools. Dr. Anthony Chaffee reinforces the discussion with evidence about how cholesterol theory was fabricated by sugar companies, as documented in internal memos published in JAMA in 2016.

Key Takeaways

  • Medical schools in America provide only 20 hours of nutrition education throughout the entire curriculum, leading doctors to prescribe pharmaceuticals rather than address dietary root causes of disease
  • Severe inflammatory conditions like pyoderma gangrenosum (skin ulcers that eat down to bone) can heal completely on a carnivore diet combined with hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • The cholesterol theory of heart disease was fabricated by sugar companies in the 1960s, with internal company memos proving this fraud published in JAMA in 2016
  • Before 1912, there were virtually zero documented cases of heart disease deaths in America despite people eating meat, making cholesterol, and smoking at higher rates than today
  • Transitioning to carnivore may initially cause digestive changes, but persistence through the adaptation period can lead to complete resolution of inflammatory bowel conditions
  • Dogs and cats fed raw meat diets show dramatic improvements in autoimmune conditions, skin problems, and dental health compared to processed kibble diets

for a lot of the American doctors the average time they spend on nutrition in all the medical school there is actually like a peer-review journal that showed I think it was total of like 20 hours at most they didn't give you any kind of nutrition advice they just said oh just take a pill for this just take a pill for this okay we're going to give you a colonoscopy well let's do another colonoscopy until 2017 I was so inflamed this colon surgeon said look it I think we remove about 6 in of your the end of your intest and your sigmoid that's where the problem is I think you're going to feel a lot better after that you know when you're desperate when you're in you're just gouble so I was like you know what fine let's just do it let's get it over with I just I need to get better cuz I haven't been able to date you know anything else and get back with my friends this is this is horrible when they did a surgery it was horrific because not only that they accidentally woke me up too early from the anesthesia so I woke up right after they cut me open where they were still kind of sealing me up I screamed in pain then they released me two days afterwards with I was like you know I'm not moving my bals should I make sure this thing's working before you release Oh no you're fine just you know yeah yeah don't worry you're gonna be fine and a couple weeks later it started getting very swollen I was like you know I called the doctor and I was like you know it's um it's getting pretty swollen and then I actually went in for a followup before it started getting really Swan and then one of the Physicians uh I think it was actually one of like the Physicians assistants kind of like oh you know Mr brandlin that's just it's hematoma and you're just worried and you got to stop worrying just go home and rest I'm like this is painful and red but fine if you're not going to do anything I'll just go home and just pretend like nothing happened and then all a sudden three days later it SW up to the size of a grapefruit it almost like the movie Alien where it's about to pop up out of the skin he's like you know what I'm in so much pain this is 10 times worse than before I even had the surgery I really regret this he's like well I think we may have to employ other options he's like maybe we should probably remove a little bit more of your intestine and that's where I was like you know what I said you know what you know I'm gonna actually something's wrong with me you made me a lot worse I'm going to do some extensive blood work one of my colleagues like you know some people have been trying this all meat diet and maybe that's what you need to [Music] do welcome to the plant-free MD podcast with Dr Anthony chaffy where we discuss diet and nutrition and how this affects health and chronic disease and show you how you can use this to optimize your health and happiness both mentally and physically hello everyone thank you very much for joining another episode of the plant-free MD podcast I'm your host Dr Anthony chaffy and today I have a very special guest uh my friend Christopher brandlin who it goes by the cornivore lawyer how are you Chris I'm fairly well uh Dr Anthony how are yourself I'm doing very well thank you so uh for people haven't come across you I mean you've been sort of in this community for a while and you you've helped a lot of people out but for people who haven't come across you uh can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you came here sure so before I became an attorney I became an attorney in 2011 I was always always part of the health and fitness industry so I was a personal trainer during uh college and law school and law school I ran my own business as a personal trainer and I competed at all natural bodybuilding so I was Mr Los Angeles natural in 2010 when I but it was all natural so I had a a really good bodybuilding coach who put me on a really good um well it was carb cycling back then but it was mainly strictly ketogenic um but after practicing law I just kind of kept the health and fitness industry with me but maybe it was stress or something else but um about 2015 2016 that's where I started having some health issues and who knows what it whether it could be from uh putting alcohol back in my diet or something like that because that's some kind of little thing back in um with the attorney industry unfortunately um but moment I started having some problems I was like you know what I was always waking up 5: in the morning working out I was feeling great all of a sudden I couldn't get out of bed I'm like I'm feeling really sick something's wrong with me it's not just like feeling nauseous my gut like joint pain like head to toe and I was traveling right before that time so my problem is I made the mistake by going to a lot of conventional medical doctors and first you start with a GI and I was like you know I'm having some gut problems and oh yeah well you may have sibo you may have something else and what do they give they give you a bunch of antibiotics or you know lot of cortica steroids or some other pharmaceutical crap so this is where I started making a mistake I started like you know I asked my family I was like you know um I having some problems and you know they're like yeah you're like the health note why the hell you having problems they just listen to your doctor and of course that's where I learned about true conventional medicine so long story short they kept feeding me so many cortica steroids laxatives and a bunch of antibiotics or they completely wrecked my cut and as you may know Dr Anthony something have I found out because I'm kind of like finish off my PhD is that for a lot of the American doctors the average time they spend on nutrition in all the medical school there is actually like a a peer- review journal that showed I think it was total of like 20 hours at most at most prestigious colleges sorry medical universities I should have realized this before but anyways they didn't give you any kind of nutrition advice they just said oh just take a pill for this just take a pill for this okay we're going to give you a Coos oh let's do another coos so long story short until 2017 I was so inflamed I was like you know I was almost beded I was like you know what I really don't think I'm getting much better and I had one colon surgeon while I think he was a crook I say you know what I I got this one piece for test and we're looking over here at the colonoscopy and some of these kind of images it's pretty inflamed it's pretty exended um this colon surgeon said look it I think we remove about six inches of your uh the end of your intestine your sigmoid um that's where the problem is I think you're going to feel a lot better after that and you know when you're desperate when you're in pain you're just gouble so I was like you know what fine let's just do it let's get it over with I just I need to get better because I haven't been able to date and you know anything else and get back with my friends this is this is horrible so the when they did a surgery it was horrific because not only that they accidentally woke me up too early from the anesthesia so I woke up right after they cut me open where they were still kind of sealing me up I screamed in pain they had to give me a bunch of trauma doll and like a bunch of like morphine to put me back to sleep wow then they released me two days afterwards with I was like you know I'm not moving my Bal should I make sure this thing's working before you release Oh no you're fine just you know yeah yeah don't worry you're gonna be fine and that's thing you normally you normally don't let people out until and a couple weeks later later you know I was like I noticed because it was two inches below my belly it was laparoscopic but two inches below my belly button was the main incision and uh and I I was like you know what it started getting very swollen I was like all right I took I was like you know I call the doctor and I was like you know it's um it's getting pretty swollen and then I actually went in for a followup before it started getting really swollen and then one of the Physicians uh I think it was actually one of like the physician assistants kind of like oh you know Mr Brandin that's just it's hematoma if you're just worried and you got to stop worrying just go home and rest I'm like this is painful and red but fine if you're not g to do anything I'll just go home and just pretend like nothing happened and then all a sudden three days later it swoll up to the size of a grapefruit it almost like the movie Alien where it's about to pop up out of the skin and it was just so much pain where I took a clean photo I sent it over and then the surgeon's like okay you got to get to be ASAP so they had to recot me open mainly superficial but they didn't give me any athesia so I felt the whole thing and they said yeah and um I said well it's mainly superficial but it's a really bad infection so we're going have to squeeze out all the infections and you we're not going to sew it back up because I think you know basically we got to air it out you're gonna have to change the gauze twice a day and I had to do that for a couple more weeks and then right when it started sealing back up it got infected again I was like you know what I think I'm just getting worse from this and then and finally he actually did like extended fast just to help it heal um but then afterwards the co is like well he's like you know what I'm in so much pain this is 10 times worse than before even had the surgery I really regret this he's like well I think we may have to employ other options he's like maybe we should probably remove a little bit more of your intestine and that's where I was like you know what I said you know what you know I'm gonna actually something's wrong with me you made me a lot worse I'm going to do some extents of blood work and that's where I found out out that I had you know um Lyme disease with some co- infections so I started treating that but I refused to go back to the doctor after that uh and actually some of the typical protocols for treating lime uh you know a lot of ozone therapy I started doing that started making me feel 10 times better so I knew I was on the right path and I started doing a lot of vitamin infusions and uh and I was like you know what I I really got to heal so I just started supplementing on a lot of glutamine and then I went to like a strict ketogenic diet because before that I was kind of carb cycling it was mainly nothing really I really didn't do gluten but a lot of it was just a lot of sweet potatoes and whatnot but it was still giving me some SEO problems and then I start I was like you know what I'm still having some problems that I noticed when I was eating I was like all right I'm eating eat meat and vegetables let me just try eating the meat I started feeling better afterwards I was like all right there's something to it and this is about I think it was like 2018 going into 2018 uh one of my colleages like you know some people have been trying this all meat diet and maybe that's what you need to do and that's when Michaela Peter start started getting a little popular um that was actually I think right before she got popular I think I did like a quick Zoom with her or like yeah but it was over the phone it wasn't even a zoom sorry and then and she this is like I you know when she was just starting yeah I just started doing this and you know what Chris you should try this out and you know what um no plant oil just everything is going to be meat you're going to use Tallow to cook everything um you may need to adjust to it with your fat intake because everything I was like yeah but you know what I don't care if I'm having diarrhea this is actually it's not burning this is this is fine I'm just transitioning and then I wanted to get a little bit more into it so that's where I contacted Dr Sophia Dr Sophia Clemens with the Paleo medicine gr IC mni I think it's International Council of Medical Nutrition intervention uh and you know what I was like you know what I need to get better uh need to get back on my feet so I actually want to just I don't care how much um problems I'm having I know I'm still healing but I'm going to fly over there so I actually did I Skyped with her first and I just flew over there because I wanted to get the hell away from um a lot of BS in here in LA county um and you know what I think within the I stayed with her for about a week and they serve you like the best like freshest like Meats I think we stayed at um we stayed at a hotel but like they just have you feed twice a day and they check your uh you know check your ketones every morning and everything else like that but they said here's the rule no supplements and I was like really I was supplementing with a lot of things to keep my inflation down I was doing some vitamin C IVs and things to boost like no we're not gonna allow any of that so it was interesting but I was actually glad that I didn't rely on a bunch of supplements because I felt amazing that week and I usually don't handle pork that well but the pork in supposedly the pork in Spain and Hungary is like some of the finest pork is because they don't feed them any corn or soy and that's why you may see in like in the United States there's few Farms elect Farms that have corn-free and soyf free pork um so anyways that was part of my healing journey and this is at the point where um you know I was so inflamed after the surgery so it was a long healing process so in addition to using the carnivore diet what I started researching something that I really promote to a lot of carnivores to try out if they really damage and they really need to heal because as a doctor you may know this this is a very inflammatory skin disease that develops when you're really inflamed a lot of people all sort of colitis have it's called pyoderma gangrenosum um it's it's almost like leprosy really because you know just think of it pyoderma Derma skin and gang granosa like Gang Green your skin just starts eating itself up so right after that gut surgery one of the other things that uh was happening was um I started developing the ulcers on my body like a bruise and then it would start opening up like a wound this is how I knew I was so inflamed that my immune system was just went to is that um I had a point where I had a bruise on my hip and it it didn't heal so it started ulcerating and I got to the point where I can put my finger ins theide the wound and touch my hipbone that's how badly inflamed I was after that gut surgery so in addition to doing the carnivore dut one thing that I study to a great extent and I do promote it because it's Mally invasive as hyperbaric oxygen therapy medical grade um one of the things I think a lot of people are having problems with especially when they're covering themselves with mask 247 you think it's pretty idiotic when you see a lot of people here in the United States are driving by themselves and their own cars with a mask on that's so you know we're getting Dumber as a yeah as a nation or as a world but anyways um I started doing medical grade hyperbaric oxygen and lot everything that in in conjunction with the carnivore diet was a huge part of my healing process so I'm you know I'm still practicing law but right now I'm actually working on my PhD because I'm one of the few attorneys kind of speaking out it because what they're trying to do here in California especially LA County they're trying to promote all this plant-based fake crap meat to serve to you know schools and not just that I'm the only one of the only attorneys in California speaking out against the vaccine mandate I'm hoping that a lot of carnivores will kind of agree with me that I think especially with someone that's been harmed from Far Pharmaceuticals I'm completely against Force vaccinations and everything else like that and I'm completely against Bill Gates trying to promote his plant great based crap um and that's something I speak out against and one thing I do speak out for the carnivore Community if anybody else is that don't make the same mistakes I did you know a lot of people get gal bable and they get desperate they go to Conventional medicine you know I'm not g you know I have a lot of friends who are doctors but the friends that I have at doctors are the ones that think outside the box and don't just prescribe a lot of pharmaceutical crap yeah so that's part of my healing Journey today and um I'm G to be finishing up my PhD and uh I actually I actually have some colleagues that want me to run for Congress we'll see if it actually happens next five to 10 years but yeah I I I want to be kind of um I want my voice to be heard at higher so yeah yeah so that's my long story short and you know seven years and probably five or 10 minutes yeah there you go hey everyone really happy to announce a new sponsor of the show for everyone in Australia and that was when Michaela Peterson was doing this early on that would have been like six years ago that you were in touch with her is that right yeah yeah I think it was like 2018 because I spoke with her and she actually made the reference that she's like yeah well people kind of like you were following some of the work from the Paleo medicina Clinic you know that that Hungarian clinic and she actually made the reference to them and I actually that's where I actually flew to Budapest uh to meet with Dr Sophia and she was with Dr at their time but I'm not sure if you know they divorced and everything else like that but anyways yeah I I think I spoke with um Michaela like earlier that yeah I think it was early that year like 2018 so this is right when she started too so now and then she got her dad on it you know know she got her dad Jordan on it and I love Jordan Peterson I I love his kind of mindset and his his debates as well so yeah no I was I I've actually came across uh Jordan Peterson and when when he was still just arguing over like was it Bill c16 up in Canada with like the forcing you to like compelling speech that you have to follow these sort of dictates and you have to say these things that we want you to say and he's like well hold on a second that's that's pretty dangerous road to go down maybe we shouldn't do that and he got Land Based for that um so I was following from that I remember seeing him get attacked by these people you know verbally um about how horrible he was and he was just and he just offended himself so well and he just is like no you're not getting it like this is what I'm saying and this is why this matters and U there people that were trying to trying to get him cancelled and all that sort of stuff and they just it just the man was Teflon because he he knew what he was talking about and he actually had something meaningful to say about it and so I was quite interested in him uh because of that I had already been sort of you know made my own discoveries about carnivore at the time and then I started seeing him do it I'm like wow that's awesome and so I was i' had already been following him when he when he uh started doing that as well which was really interesting but uh yeah I really like I really like Jordan Peterson and and the way he thinks about things and looks at things as well it's just it's sort of cool that he's also in in the carnivore Community but I would have liked him anyway yeah yeah I know he just talk he's like yeah you know I think one of his comments is like I eat just you know I eat bacon bacon eggs and steak or something like to that similar I I know Michaela was on a couple different ones where she was just trying to explain the guy you know what do you eat for uh lunch what do you eat for dinner sir I think right now she was on the Surline kick where she's like just sirine they're like that's all you eat and of course but I became even though I have a lot of um unfortunately I have a lot of other attorneys in the family I'm the youngest of all the attorneys because none of my brothers want to do it but father uncles and I got a retired um you know judge as an uncle and all that and they're all like y Chris you need a boun and they all have their dad bods they're all like 40 or 50 pounds over their weight and they're eating you know drinking and they're eating a bunch of crap and eating a ice cream sandwich like you know you need to have a balanced diet I can't believe you're just eating meal I like well so you're talking about a diet that we've been eating for a couple million years it's yeah something that's not sustainable right so balance of ice cream balance of cigarettes balance of alcohol and then balance of good things too so you want to balance the good with the bad right so balance and then you're not and then you're neutral and you're not doing well but you're not doing all that bad either it's just it's a balance it's a balance of of crap is basically what a balance diets is so yeah it's very funny you say a balance okay is balance of dirt did you get your cocaine balance today you know you need a balance you know and it's like of course that's silly you know a balanced diet means that you need a BAL a perfectly balanced diet is a a a diet where you're getting all your essential macr micronutrients in the right proportion that's what a steak is steak is a balanced diet it's a perfectly Bal B diet you get an unbalanced diet when you start eating other things that that is an imbalanced diet you're adding in toxins you're adding in anti nutrients you're becoming uh you're getting malnutrition and you're also building up toxic exposure in your body as well that's very unbalanced actually yeah and I think it was about six months ago something that Michaela also had to deal with I'm not sure if she know that she went like off the radar for like six months mold exposure something that's that's kind of uncontrollable and so when I didn't realize I had mold exposure I started getting sick and they're like oh that's because we saw you eating a raw F Min ya you know what you rob me that's why you're sick and they're like you have parasites I even did like a stool test I don't have any parasites and I just did like the blood and urine test I'm like oh I got black mold I wonder I'm sick you know another thing I want to do promote by the way um I'm not sure if you already know about there there's a couple companies that are getting bigger here in the United States is that they're promoting the raw meat diet for the animals like there's refeed raw and actually if hey Remy come over here oh he's not coming anyways something I gave my dog because I have a little French Bulldog um but anyways um is actually I um I'm not sure if you know about this but um Frenchies uh they have like the worst autoimmune conditions um yeah they always develop in rashes they got the worst gut problems so French Bulldogs are always the worst but one of the things to take away this guy's rashes because nothing else would let's put this guy on a raw meat diet yeah so but anyways he had rashes all up and down his stomach and actually getting them off the all that dry uh dog food and actually putting them on it's called refeed raw.com and they actually what they do is they they take your breed and they take the weight and they estimate exactly how much raw beef they should give them every day and they they portion it out and they ship it out to them uh that's something I was giving it to them and what they also do is H they something I actually um was Dr Sophia told me is that they automatically say that you have to have um they put bone meal because everyone's like hey why is there ground beef like 12 bucks a pound when I can get it store for five bucks I was like well because they actually put like certain organs and uh bone uh bone meal in it too and they say it's something that you should have for almost every dog not sure if you ever studi the veterinary world but is um is actually yeah is bone meal basically because the Cal seem get for the dogs yeah yeah he's doing a lot better I haven't had him he hasn't had a rash in a while yeah nice well that's the thing too it's I I all our pets we feed uh just raw meat as well sometimes cooked but mostly Raw you know it's just like there's like some leftovers or something like that something we cook we'll give it to them but most of it's raw and and they're doing great they have they're very very healthy no issues no Dental issues no haven't had to take them to the vet for anything um and you know they're just just very healthy animals like why why would why would they need dried kibbled nons well because the scientists did it oh it's scientifically proven oh my god oh no what science does is it helps you is is it's a Ser it's a set of tools to help you describe the natural world the natural in the natural world dogs eat meat that's the natural world and you don't need science to figure that you just look they eat meat that's what they eat well they don't canines and felines have like like the like the strongest kind of stomach acid or like the lowest pH of like all stomachs of like most animals I think even lower than humans right I about that well I know ours is is some of the lowest as well like vultures are 1.5 pH of like 1.5 and ours is between 1.5 and two lions are around two so like Carnival would be around that one and a half to two uh level but the generally all of them are and so you know Felines and canines extremely low PH just like just like other carnivores as well and they are carnivores and they're certainly not dog food devores I mean that's certainly not what they are me what would these animals be eating if they were in the wild right before we domesticated them what were they eating they were eating meat you know dogs came from wolves right like foxes coyotes wolves all the canids they are all eating meat that's what they're eating it's like oh but they get into trash cans and they eat bread it's like yeah idiot but like if that didn't exist if your trash can didn't exist what would they be eating they're you're opportunistic they'll eat what's what's there but that doesn't mean that that's what their appropriate diet is so you look at them in the Wild on adulterated by the garbage that we put out there what do they eat they eat meat and that's going to be what they need biologically what do we eat when it's unadulterated just in the wild without doing something stupid we eat meat and so that's obviously you know what what we've been eating for millions of years as well and so how could something that's been around for millions of years that we've been eating for millions of years we've been exposed to for millions of years uh how how is that something that's harmful to us how is it that we're making LDL and that that just destroys our heart and kills us like that's pretty poor structure for a for a a species like you just you're not going to make it like if your body is designed to kill you if you're making poison your own downfall then you're going to die you're not going to be as fit as other species and you're not going to make it and yet we're here and yet there was no heart disease diagnosed or in the literature of people dying from heart disease before 1912 why is that and there's one obscure reference in the late 1700s of some of a presentation at a at a conference of people doing autopsy say hey we looked at this thrombus in the coronary vegetables oh isn't that interesting and it was an anomaly and everyone just went like whatever because it just like it never showed up before or since and until 130 years later and then one other case came up and people still said yeah we don't believe it so what happened well what about the rest of the time well we we're making cholesterol then we're eating meat then we're having saturated fat then four out of five men smoked then and yet we're not having people die of heart attacks right it's not in the literature it's not seen being seen on autopsies and people did check they were doing tons and tons and tons of autopsies and dissections and the milal hyp cholesterol Li well that's this is proof positive thatl will kill you uh and yet there were the same amount of people as a percentage of the population in the 1800s when there wasn't a single case of someone dying from heart disease or heart attack in America in the entire Century of the 1800s not a single case and so I have a question doc once you're done so yeah so I mean I understand that all the doctors when they go through medical school and their residency afterwards I mean most of the doctors here in the United States kind of just kind of follow the protocol like hey anything goes wrong they basically think of a pharmaceutical medication to fix it even like even my like neighbors is making a joke he's like yeah I get a nail in the back of my head I go to the doctor he's probably just gonna give me a pill so yeah so at what point did you kind of start thinking like outside the box where said look it you know I'm not going to really rely on everything that was talked to me from the AMA and when did you kind of figure it out for yourself hey guys just want to take a second to thank our sponsor at carnivore bar I don't promote many products because honestly all you need to be healthy is to just eat meat for those times that you're out hiking road tripping or stuck at work and you want a nutritious snack that is just meat fat and salt if you want it the carnivore bar is a great option so I like this product not because it's just pure meat but also because I want the carnivore Market to thrive as well and the more we support meat only products the more meat only products there will be available in the mainstream so if this sounds like something you'd like to get behind check it out using my discount code Anthony to get 10% off which also applies to subscriptions giving you 25% off total all all right thanks guys I I sort of had that aha moment when I when I sort of uh was watch what I started seeing more more things that that disrupted that whole narrative about cholesterol and fat being bad for you started seeing uh the work of Dr Robert lustig out of UCSF about fructose and how toxic that was and showing very hard biochemical evidence that this is this is harmful and and then clinical studies showing that it's harmful oh it's only rapm there there studies in humans reversing metabolic syndrome reversing fatty liver disease in humans um by just excluding fructose keeping carbohydrates but just removing the fructose keeping glucose removing fructose and that that reversed metabolic syndrome and fatty liver disease in uh pediatric population in an Interventional trial so you know there's there's real studies and real data showing this and then there's other studies massive studies coming out around 2015 that I started seeing um you know few years I graduated 2013 so it's a few years after that and um about statins and lowering LDL and actually in the over 65 population there's a study with it's like 65,000 people over the age of 65 and they found that the people that actually were on statins and lowering their cholesterol their LDL cholesterol actually had worse outcomes than the people who were not on statins and had higher cholesterol ol LDL cholesterol and so it was just like whoa hold on a second you know what's going on here like do we need to rethink how we we treat cholesterol and Stat and use of statins and things like that and that was not the only one there were many many many many other studies like this and then you start digging in you start finding that this was actually a con and a fraud in the first place and that was published in jamama in 2016 uh the internal memos from the sugar companies saying how they made up the cholesterol theory of of heart disease it was wasn't like a serious scientist went I think this is this might be cholesterol it was it was foundational from the sugar companies they made this up and then they found people that could be bought off that they then then push this had them push this out so when you look at that as a matter of record you're like oh okay that's interesting now that didn't make me that didn't make the whole wool fall off my eyes but it I always kept an open mind because because you know there's a famous address to the the Harvard graduating class of Harvard Medical School I think in the 30s at some point and they said that half of what you were taught here at Harvard is going to turn out to be wrong but no one's going to tell you which half and so you need to keep on top of these things you need to keep current on the literature you need to do your own investigation and research to figure out which half and to find new things and to teach that to the next generation of doctors and a similar statement was made to us in my first year I don't know if anyone else internalized this but it certainly resonated with me which was this was in the first three months of medical school and one of the one of the professors just came in he was only doing like a one-off lecture but he said to us he said listen by the time you graduate medicine every by Medical School everything you will have learned in medical school will be obsolete like it just move so fast so everything you're learning here will be out of date by the time you graduate you need to keep that in mind you need to you need to keep Pace with uh our understanding of the body and medicine and so I just always did I just I wasn't I wasn't like no no no I learned this in medical schools that's the only thing like I learned something in medical school I'm like okay well I I'll keep that until there's something else that shows that it can replace it but you know I'm not I was like no no no that can never be shook you know of course it can and and then I you know came across Dr Baker on Joe Rogan and my brother's like oh this guy's saying you can you can get all the nutrition for meat and you don't have to eat plants and all that sort of stuff and I was just like I was like oh that's and he he played rugby and he's a doctor and I'm like Oh weird um and instantly I was like oh well that's weird but then it dawned on me like in the back of my mind said well hold on a second like I did that for fully 5 years in my early 20s just because I learned how toxic plants were so I just stopped eating them and I've never felt better in my entire life and I was always struggling like how do I get back to that how do I get back to feeling as amazing as I did and um you know in my mid 20 mid uh middle of my 25th year actually right after I turned 25 well pretty shortly after I turned 25 I was I was there thinking I was like I don't feel it why don't I feel as superh human amazing as I normally do like what what what's going on I am I just getting older am I not working as hard like what the hell's happening and I I I've never been able to get back before that but that was when I started slipping off I started incorporating you know some Whole Food plants even just just like little breadcrumbs uh panco crumbs on the chicken I was eating a couple times a week that was enough that was the beginning that was the crack um in the door that just like opened it up to the rest of it and and that was it and then I started looking back I was just like well hold on a second like I did that for 5 years I'm never felt better and so I was like okay well I'll watch it and I'll see what I think and within 5 minutes I was like this guy's more right than he knows because I knew about the plant toxins I knew about the fructose issue I knew about cholesterol not being an issue and so it's just like everything clicked in and everything as a as a doctor and a clinician clicked in and my understanding of diseases clicked in because if you looking at it humans just actually are carnivores as a species that's the kind of animal that we are and we're not eating as such and just like dogs and cats are carnivores and yet they're not eating and such they're getting the same damn diseases that we're getting the rate of human diseases are going up and up and up in the our pet populations and you we have signs in the zoo saying don't feed the damn animals it makes them very sick you know don't feed the animals the thing that you're eating right now makes them sick what is it doing to us and so he just clicked in and it's was just like okay we're carnivores we're not living as carnivores and you know and and then so like we're getting diseases that we're not supposed to have and so I I just went back I was like right I knew it I knew plants were trying to kill me get rid of these stupid things and I just dumped them and I was already doing keto uh I wasn't doing keto but I I just I recognized that when I ate carbs or anything that contain carbs or grains my back hurt a hell of a lot worse yeah no that's something I that's something I recognized too as I was transitioning after the surgery too is you know removing grains was one thing I think the only thing that I can like slightly tolerate but it still caused inflammation was just like like a Jasmine white rice or something like that but I noticed that almost everything else like even coconut oil like like I remember I tried Tallow and I tried coconut oil I just remember like I had a stomach burning from coconut oil they're like you get stomach bur I was like no when you're really inflamed you're going to feel everything and right now I can only eat Tallow SE uh bone marrow and and I kind of just kind of Switched in off to that one thing I also didn't mention to you I'm not sure if I mention like our little email exchanges too is um I actually am a one of one of the things I did because I wanted continue my little health education uh after passing the barim is I actually got my dietetic technician uh credential it's a step right below a registered di dietition I was going to do the Rd and I actually was doing the Rd uh program uh but um one thing is that I was doing like a distance learning and you have to do clinical rotations at a local hospital and I was doing the Rd program with ruers University based out of New Jersey and they didn't have any contracts with the hospitals in LA county I was like all right you know I got a lot of credentials but I'm either going to get um I need to get a master so let me just get the Masters and dietetics so I went to USC and they looked at my credentials and they're like well you're an attorney you're a broker you licensed a couple different states I mean you got a really weird background this is this is good but what can you bring to the like you know to basically our program I actually told them this is after I switched to Carnival I was like well one things I think you and these ladies they're all they look like pigeons pop bellies and chicken legs you know all these like the directors at USC for the dietetics program like they look like the most unhealthy they look like the people from The View basically like whoopy Goldberg it looked horrible anyways um so I I told him I was like I think you ladies need to consider flipping the food pyramid upside down and when I said that they took an offense and they were like you know what so Brandon I think with regardless of your credentials we don't think you're a good fit here so I kind of like all right screw this I went and I I got my MBA right afterwards and then I just was like you know I'm gonna keep going I wanted to get my PhD because my PhD is not in really Health but it's in public policy and administration it's a gateway to kind of run for politics in the future and I am a little disappointed with especially how California has been running for the last couple years and uh I really don't like the fact that a lot of my friends were nurses at hospitals and they lost their jobs because they refused the vaccine yeah so now but anyways but yeah my my journey hopefully can help everybody else but I'm glad that I really wish there's a lot of other doctors thinking outside the box like yourself is because a lot of them even our family doctor who is a family friend I mean he doesn't have any resources and he always just looks he's like well I'm going to look at what kind of pharmaceutical will be best fit you know whenever one of my family members is having problems I'm like this is the worst thing it's just yeah yeah and well but that's how it's taught you know here's a problem here's a pill here are these pills here I mean it's just it's just pharmacology you know and it's it's not even like in-depth pharmacology it's just uh it's just knowing enough to know what to prescribe and and you give you know some sort of well here's the mechanism and here's the little receptors it works on and all that sort of stuff and it's just sort of this semblance of a scientific education but it's it's really not it's very superficial and it's and it's a it's a sort of a product centralized sort of system you know we're thinking like oh yes this is medicine this is no it's not it's a this is this is pharmaceutical sales that's what this is and um and a lot of the curriculum is being dictated by the pharmaceutical industry and and a lot of the professors at medical schools are in the pay of of yeah the Kickbacks that's the whole thing and there is one Doctor Who does I do love um I think it's Dr L not L lwig but lkin uh he's a UCLA Professor but he's a big proponent of the ketogenic diet not completely carnivore but he loves carnivore but he but I'm I'm connected with him on LinkedIn so we always kind of post these little messages and we make these offensive comments and all that but one of the things he does is he actually likes to speak out against the conventional doctors and he says you know these cartoons basically you know a patient cured is a customer lost you may see that joke one other things I I noticed I mentioned I I mentioned others is for the average doctor here in United States you're not going to find any doctors many doctors who will tell the patients my goal is to get you off medications my goal is for you to never see me again yeah and that's that's where you know it's going wrong so that's that's literally what I tell my patients you know in my functional medicine practice like hey I want I want to set you up with the skills and get you to a place that you don't need me anymore and you're just healthy you just you just go do that and you just go be healthy you know like that's what I want and you know from a political standpoint when we need people in the political Arena to start making these arguments because regardless of you know we're talking about you know what what system uh we should have a public system or private system I certainly have my opinions on that very simple do you want the VA nationalized and have everyone be beholding to the VA system or do you want something anything else than that um when you think about that you know does the VA system work very well not really um that's that's the top down government in institution uh medical system but regardless I mean we're we're we're talking about you know we're changing the place settings on the Titanic is what we're doing by talking about this the the main issue is this burden of chronic disease it doesn't matter what system you have it will sink under the weight of that burden of chronic disease which is only getting worse and you know people can can deny that and a lot of people do generally the vegans and and some other uh people that just for some reason just try to argue and and make you know lies through statistics about how actually no no no we're all getting better we're all getting better since we stopped reduced our meat reduced saturated fat increased vegetable oils and all these sorts of things which is completely utter garbage utter garbage over 90% of the of the ailments that doctors treat nowadays are the non-communicable chronic diseases all right that's that's not what it used to be and and um so that's that's the main thing that's the the health care crisis is this burden of chronic disease you get away from that then we can start talking about which system is is better or worse for our for our people or the people that want to do that in that state or that area that's fine but it doesn't matter what your system is if you if you syn the entire country because of the burden of of chronic disease you know we're spending a trillion dollars a year in America just America treating type 2 diabetes right that's a massive massive massive bill I think 75% of Medicare expenditures in America goes towards treating diabetes 9% of Americans are diabetes just 9% 40% are pre-diabetic so ostensibly if this nothing changes you have 50% of the population being diabetic in the next decade and what's that going to do to the to the healthcare budget and crisis and all that sort of stuff it tle our demand just with the diabetes sides of things and so we getting more and more and more uh issues and we're buying we're spending trillions of dollars eating processed garbage which is making us sick and then we're spending probably two or three times as many trillions of dollars treating the consequences of eating this process garbage and you just stop that you just eat actual food and what happens you're not spending trillions of dollars on nonsense making you sick and then you don't have to spend three times as many trillions of dollars treating that illness that you get from that stuff I mean think about that you know you have the you have an entire a new federal budget well previous Federal budgets of trillions of dollars now just alive in the economy actually going towards meaningful ends instead of just perpetuating this you know self-fulfilling prophecy where you just you're just eating crap getting sick and treating that that illness you just get rid of that and then all of a sudden you five trillion extra dollars in the in the US economy and however many tens of trillions of dollars in in the rest of the economies around the world they can actually go to very useful things that people can say hey I actually want this other thing let's research and develop that and I think that that's the major major issue so having people like yourself that are aware of this situation uh in politics is actually would be probably a very good thing I think that that would probably be the most awful experience of of my entire life getting involved in politics I can't think of anything no I know and I already get like my occasional death threats when I Garner someone's bank accounts or something else like that they're like you know you really want that kind of stress I was like no we need a young Republican and I'm gonna you know blatantly say that out and I just turned 38 so I still got some time to go but we need we need the younger group speaking out and I'm a little shamed of my own generation nowadays as you can see why so yeah we just need people with you know that that have sort of seen this and understand you know the underlying root cause of things and you know and so getting in politics is very good you know because like we either influence the politicians there now or we start getting new politicians in that that are aware of these sorts of issues and that's obviously oh that's the system that we have anyway at least for now and um and so you know we should we should do that while we can so that's good um so are is that something you are seriously considering a run for politics in the future yeah no I have a a case right now with one of the former the opposing council is actually a former Congressman of California from like you know 20 years ago but we actually got along even though our clients want to kill each other um yeah so he's got a he's got a much bigger resume than me and that's why I can I was like hey can I just speak with your H I'm getting my PhD and some of the people recommended me to kind of you know run for Congress in the next five to 10 years because I have a kind of a unique background and they want someone speaking out and you know there's a lot of problem there's a lot of reasons why people are leaving California specifically too um but he actually made the recommendation he's like you know I I actually got a campaign manager I think I could help you out so I got some resources so we'll see and uh I want to continue helping out the carnivore Community I always tell all my friends I'm like you I can willing to do happy pro bono work I mean as long as it's within my line of work I just don't do uh criminal law and family law any so that's like the main two calls I got after college by the way is uh criminal law and law everybody was thinking like they were still in college so was all these dys and everybody and then all family law all my friends they got married or got in a relationship right after and as you know divorce rates in my generation California are like the highest ever so they all wanted to me a divorce like one or two years later so yeah yeah those are you get well for me it was uh uh breast augmentations every I know it's just like oh can you give me new breast and I'm like oh no and yeah when you get like a you know when you get a license in like kind of area I just know that you must be getting hounded with 10 times more especially with your popularity I mean you're G to get hounded with so many more questions so yeah uh I get know you know what do I do in this situation what do I do in this situation but yeah I'm guessing you're going to have the like a lot more unique and TMI ones yeah yeah well this this was just like when going through medical school and like you know when people when my friends found out I oh you're going through medic school so so you can give me give me a boob job or something like that I was like well maybe I don't know if I'm going into that that area of medicine but that was always the one it was always that it was just like like some sort of cosmetic surgery and generally that one so which was pretty funny um but yeah well uh Chris I think that was that was great thank you so much for that it's really great that you've been uh so active in the in the carnivore community and trying to and trying to you know just just just being nice guy and help people and hopefully um your you know political aspirations hopefully that that um you know bears fruit because like we need more people like you speaking for everybody and actually trying to address these things like people want to be healthy they want to be fit they want to be active you know and we're getting we're getting thrown down just the wrong path right now and people they're trying to sh down the meat industry is my hugest concern too and well that's it I think I saw an announcement from um was the head of H HHS saying that um the about the health impacts that um you know the climate change is having on the African-American population and this is you know wi disparity of health problems like okay look you know again we're we're we're moving plates we're moving deck chairs on the Titanic you know just like that that is not the underlying health care crisis in America right now and we need to address that you know there are many there's never going to be a lack of problems in any sort of human endeavor but but the major problem that's causing the most harm is this health problem of we're eating the wrong things and our bodies are breaking down and dying as a result of it and this is this is very true for the African-American population as well um as as well as every other population on Earth and the Native American population they haven't had exposure to uh agrarian Foods until very recently except in you know meso America and certain certain populations but you know most like the Plains Indians and the Canadian um natives did not really have exposure to agriculture until very recently and they have a much higher burden of chronic disease in the population when eating a western diet specifically and so we need to recognize that and we need to get people on health heal diets I mean to get people back you know to where our our normal standard of Health was and have a medical system that is there for people that get into an accident have you know get a broken bone get a nail stuck in the back of their head uh or unfortunately you know have a more serious diagnosis but it shouldn't be every damn person has a serious diagnosis and it's just is just waiting and just getting worse and worse and worse and on more and more medications until finally just out of desperation they just they die you know and um you know that's not what it's supposed to be so we get this underlying mess out of control under control and then we can actually look at at what El what else is left but you know it's the elephant in the room and just we're just ignoring it and uh we can't because it's uh it's the major problem of our of our time yeah from a health perspective anyway so yeah well great well thank you Chris um where can people find you and uh and follow you from work uh I'm mainly on LinkedIn uh so Christopher Brown on LinkedIn that's where I do most of my post and you could probably ignore a lot of my offensive political posts and but I am speaking mainly against Bill Gates I he's I hate him with the passion I mean I don't know why people are looking to him as the medical expert where he's got no medical degree I mean he's he needs a bra 247 and I don't know I call them soy titties but anyways well you know the thing is too I mean I grew up in in uh Kirkland Washington so he grew up in B was right next to each other in Seattle in the sort of Seattle area and he's he's a regular at Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Belleview goes there all the time oh yeah all the time and um he's commonly seen there people see him there regularly um I even heard from the the waiters that um that they they they don't really like him because he gets a calculator out and he'll tip 15% on the line or 20% 15 20% on the line and they were like this guy's a multibillionaire and he's only giving me like a off fizer buddies and he's going to be tipping exactly 15% yeah and um you know and mean at the same time I was just like well the tip is still $800 and you brought him a you brought him a plate and you didn't even cook it yourself so I mean come on you know like it's like you're fine I'm not mad at him for for for tipping 15% like that's that's that's his business and it's already he's already spending way too much on those Stakes but he goes there all the time you know and that he's he's a regular feature there his vegan fans uh realize that yeah well that's it and um and the idea of him him putting up a bunch of uh particulates up in the in the atmosphere he wants to do this it's like a bond villain like holding the world hostage it's like I'm going to put these particulates up in the world and this was going to cause Mass death and destruction and all the plant life is going to die off and all animals are going to die off 60% of human life will will die off and uh unless you give me you know all these billions of dollars or something like that I mean this is like this is like out of a Bond movie except no one he's not he's not actually holding it for ransom he's saying this is really good and people are saying yes it is and it's like no it's I mean I mean how many mass extinction events have happened through exactly that catoa blows up huge dust cloud stays in the atmosphere for two years kills off all this life and then asteroid hits mult you know different times and have different mass extinction events because this massive dust cloud that just blocks out the sun we need the sun you know it's it's kind of a big deal we're kind of not here if the sun doesn't exist and doesn't get its energy down onto earth like we are reliant upon it and all plant life all life is reliant on it except for you know deep sea dwelling you know two worms they get it off volcanic sort of uh Vents and things like that everything else you know needs needs the sun right you block out the Sun and all the plant life you know serious part of it die out and the animals that rely upon it die out as well and and we die out so there's a massive massive massive problem with that and yet they're just running head head long into it saying hey isn't this a great idea no it's not this was the theme of Highlander 2 people go see it it's not a good movie but it's it this whole theme was there like all the lay and we gota we got to Scorch the sun we got to block out the sun it was just like a disaster you know so you know this wasn't this wasn't actually a good outcome but you know this or or Matrix you know they scorched the sky so that the you know the the the tech and you know uh yeah you know machines or whatever couldn't get solar power and things like like that so then they took people and started incubating them as little batteries and things like that like in fiction and reality blocking out the sun really bad idea really bad idea and and yet and yet we're we're talking about this in a serious manner as if this is this is going to save the world instead of completely Doom it to destruction so yeah I don't I don't know Mr Gates personally but I I certainly don't like some of his uh his policies and tendencies I can certainly say that okay all right well Chris it was great to see you I hope we can do it again sometime soon likewise take care do thank you hey guys thank you very
